Our founder and lifelong Wyandotte Resident, Dr. Hannah Mills, DPT, dreamt of creating a space where true healing and functional fitness come together. Now, that dream is a reality... Welcome to The Mill, where movement is medicine.
Our namesake is rooted in the very fact that the current system often operates like a mill—rushing people through, focusing on quantity rather than quality. Providers are pressured to offer quick fixes, leaving the root causes untreated. Fitness instructors with limited qualifications lead to burnout, unsustainable results, and even injury. Our team is dedicated to redefining wellness aims to set a new standard for the downriver community and beyond.
In 2024, Hannah founded The Mill after growing frustrated with the care model she saw in both traditional physical therapy clinics and fitness studios.
In standard physical therapy settings, Hannah saw how insurance rules and productivity demands often dictated care—limiting time with patients and prioritizing volume over what people truly needed to heal. At the same time, she watched fitness studios continue to push high-intensity or trendy workouts without enough education, leaving many people injured, confused, or disconnected from their bodies. The Mill was created as an answer to both.
At The Mill, Hannah blends her clinical expertise of pelvic floor therapy and women’s health with functional movement to help clients feel strong, confident, and supported through every season of life.
Just as important as physical health is mental health and community. Hannah intentionally designed The Mill to be a space where people feel welcomed and supported—where education empowers, friendships form around healthy living, and movement becomes something people enjoy and not envy. Her goal is for every person who walks through the doors to feel empowered, educated, and part of a community that sees health as the best investment you can make in yourself.

Allison is a Pilates and Movement Instructor at The Mill, currently completing the Balanced Body Mat Pilates program to become fully certified in the Balanced Body Pilates program. With five years of experience in the women’s health and fitness industry from a programming and marketing standpoint, her work blends education, empathy, and intentional movement.
After navigating her own health journey and being diagnosed with PCOS, Allison shifted away from high-pressure fitness trends and toward a more intuitive approach rooted in low-impact Pilates and resistance training. That shift completely transformed her relationship with movement.
Her classes combine the fundamentals of Mat Pilates with The Mill’s strength philosophy, emphasizing mind-to-muscle connection, endurance, and accessibility for all bodies. Allison is passionate about creating a welcoming space where everyone — from first-timers to seasoned movers — feels confident, capable, and supported.
She believes Pilates isn’t about aesthetics or trends, but about moving with intention and learning to trust your body — and she’s excited to bring that experience to the mat at The Mill.

At the Mill, we aim to support not only your physical health by promoting movement as medicine but also your mental health by encouraging mindfulness and meditation as medicine too. That's why we have teamed up with Heather Giles-Colllins, perinatal mental health specialist and practice owner of New Perspective Services to offer small group support circles to our community. Heather brings not only professional expertise as a mental health therapist, but her own lived experience as a mother to her approach to connecting mind, body, and soul. Her integrative approach plus background in specialty therapies like EMDR therapy and reiki promote holistic healing. Heather facilitates our small group course called Postpartum Power where moms, no matter what stage of motherhood, can join together in a safe space for mothers to reconnect with their emotions, gain insight into their mental health, and learn coping strategies to promote emotional well-being during the fourth trimester. In addition to being a group therapy facilitator in our studio, she also sees 1:1 clients out of her office in Trenton. Whether you're a new mom navigating change or simply seeking a deeper connection with yourself as more than just a mother, Heather is here to walk the journey with you and we are so lucky to have her a part of our team and a resource in our community.
